1. Pick an island. Some of the most popular islands to visit in Greece are: Athens, Corinth, Crete, Delphi, Mycenae, Mykonos, Olympia, Paros, Rhodes, and Sparta… to name a few. But you also may want to choose lesser known islands like Amorgos, Andros, Corfu Island, Ios, Kos, Monemvasia, Naxos, Plaka, Rethymnon, Salonica, Tenos and Zakynthos too. These islands may not exactly be that well known in the west, but these places have their share of quaint spots to visit too. At the same time, since these aforementioned locales are not really handling the bulk of the tourist mass, the prices of lodgings, food and souvenirs are relatively more affordable here.

2. Go for tourist packages or group packages. One way to save a lot of money on your trip is to subscribe to hotel tourist packages. You can easily check these out online. Once you have chosen an island to go to, you can scout around for a hotel or any lodging establishment that offers pre-planned trips to regional settings. Travel companies may also provide trips that include tours, lodgings and meals as well – so these are also worth a look. On the other hand, if you would rather discover the island(s) yourself without having to follow any tour schedule or the like, you may want to ask family, relatives and friends to pitch in or join in. Group packages on plane, boat rides and lodging establishments are considerably inexpensive than getting one lone ticket.

3. Always plan your itinerary. Winging it is not really a very budget-friendly way to travel, especially if you are traveling alone. If this is indeed the case, you will probably spend a lot of money just trying to get from one destination to the other. And these might not be the best places to go either. Check out the places where you want to go to first. Aside from knowing precisely how much your lodgings should cost you (and your plane fare as well,) you can also calculate how much money you can save if you travel on public transports. Or, if that costs a lot, you might want to consider hiring a private car instead. You might also want to check out if the museums, beaches or nature spots you intend to visit if these are charging entrance or service fees.

4. Be extra brave when it comes to shopping or cuisine. When you travel to Greece, the best places to go are not really the known hotels and the popular shopping malls. Rather, it would be more exciting and budget-friendly to visit flea markets and local eateries. With these aforementioned places, you might come across some really great finds and experience the true blue flavors of the island.

Many people consider all inclusive to be more expensive but it is actually a matter or perspective. For one thing, not only does the cost include your accomodation but it also entitles you to eat and drink in some of the town/resorts restaurants and bars for free. This means that you don’t have to pay a penny more than you do for your entire vacation.

When I went all inclusive to greece, I wasn’t sure what the scope of the places I could go to and eat or drink for free would be like. I quickly found out that in actual fact a lot of the places participated in it and i could go pretty much anywhere I wanted to. There was one or two that i couldnt go in of course and this was expected – I had the option too but i didnt want to spend any money. I’ve known others who have only had the choice of a few places to go so be sure to check with the operator what and how many places are on offer.

You can sometimes pickup great bargains to go all inclusive to greece, and it helps if you book a little later. Although be warned that this might also put your holiday in jeopardy if you miss out. However it is also worth comparing against other holidays too. If you work out your food/drink allowance per day before hand and then add in the cost of the holiday you are looking at, they are often favourable to all inclusive holidays. For one thing, the establishments that participate like to have people in them at all times, since it draws other customers in, you become advertisement for them.

Kefalonia has a lot to offer anyone. If you are a couple, a family or even a group of friends there is something for everyone. There are lots of water sports to do off all of the sublime beaches, and the bars and restraunts are great ways to spend an hour or 2 relaxing.  The nightlife revolves around lively bars playing music and doing karaoke and if that is not your thing, you can also find live performances from a wide range of entertainers such as country music, jazz, hypnotists and magicians.

The hotel I stayed in was rated at 4 stars but I promise this should have been a 5 star. The island is so welcoming to everyone and the locals are always in good spirit. In most places we visited we ended up getting a free shot of local brandy after our brief stay and everyone was open and welcoming.

If you are considering visiting a greek island, or if you are even tempted at a greek island holiday, I would highly recommend looking at Kefalonia. I hope to upload some photo’s from my visit there and intend on going back in 2010 – wether this is with friends or alone I know i will enjoy it!

An all inclusive 5 star holiday in greece is a great way to save some money. That may sound a little odd since 5 star is at the top end of the market, but by going all inclusive you know there are no hidden costs and all of your meals are paid for. Drinks are also included a lot of the time, but this is only in select bars and pubs so be sure to check the conditions.

You can book at anytime although get in early since they can fill up quite quick. Some tour operators have their own recommended 5 star hotels on various greek islands so you may also want to ask them too. Prices generally start at around £25 per person, per night which is much less than you pay in lower grade hotels in other countries.

Winter can be wet and cool, so tourism is quite low key. For this reason, many resorts often close down around this time of year and reopen when the busier periods start. Although the middle of the year offers some quite intense heat, if you like it a touch milder then April, May, September and October are usually warm and you can pick up some great bargains on 5 start accomodation. (You may want to check the status of the various resorts before booking though).

Overall, if you are considering staying in 5 star accomodation in greece then i highly recommend it. For the price, it is an absolute bargain and I try to myself when I go. After all – you’ve got to treat yourself once in a while, right?

Holiday villas in greece are as popular as ever and more are being built on the mainland each year. That doesnt mean that it is cluttered, far from it, but if you prefer something even more secluded there are plenty to choose from at one of the greek islands.

To get the best deal available you should write down a list of features you require in the villa. There are many different shapes and sizes you can choose from so the most important aspects are likely to be the number of rooms, air conditioning and luxuries such as a swimming pool. Although some villa’s dont have their own, they often have agreements with neighbouring hotels so that guests can use their pool.

Most of the coast is taken up by beautiful white beaches, dotted with picturesque fishing villages and one of the most popular excursions is to the caves off the coast that has a fantastic underwater lake that reflects mind blowing colors from the light entering inside from an opening at the top. If caves aren’t your thing there are plenty of watersports you can participate in along the shore.

If you follow one of the kefalonia walking trails you will no doubt notice the strong pine smell and other herbs which makes it quite pleasant no matter how hot it is. Along some of the many walking trails or goat paths you can find many naturally beautiful locations that would be otherwise locked away – its no wonder Kefalonia was once voted 10th in the worlds most scenic places.

The weather in Kefalonia is usually sunny with no clouds in sight, and a recent report has claimed that greece had 320 cloudless days last year which is pretty impressive. There’s always a chance you may get caught in the rain but its highly unlikely. If you do, there are plenty of bars and restraunts to try out and shelter until it clears.

The White Rocks in kefalonia is a popular hotel resort on the waterfront which is also ideally situated with access to several award winning beaches with direct access from the hotel premises. If you can get a booking here, or if your tour operator has this on thier lists I would suggest staying here as its been lovely everytime i’ve stayed.

There are many more reasons why you should take your holidays in kefalonia, and if you are going to Greece I would highly recommend this island as one of your destinations. It remains one
of my favourite islands in the world.

Sailing holidays in Greece are also highly affordable. You can hire a yacht for around the same price as a hotel and it is an awesome experience to stay on one instead of a traditional land based vacation. While staying you can easily get away as soon as you wake and view the picturesque coastline that spans hundreds of miles and cool off with a swim anywhere you fancy.

There is a lot to view and the freedom of a boating holiday means you can easily visit mainland greece while also popping to one of the many islands in the same day. The cyclads islands is a popular destination with places such as Kea. Delos and Santorini and the red sunset is well worth seeing as it contrasts with the clear blue sea while setting over the volcanic island.

There is a wide variety of yachts on offer and if you are feeling adventurous then a sailing yacht provides an economical way to experience all of this. However, a motor yacht although being slightly more expensive can provide much more space, comfort and privacy. You will also be able to get to places faster and even enjoy a spot of jet skiing and fishing which come as part of the package (usually – be sure to check!).

A boating holiday in greece should be as carefree as any other type of holiday so get ready to take the plunge and do something different for a change.

When considering boating holidays, Greece should definatly be high up on the list of possible destinations.

Late deal holidays in Greece often get cheaper if an operator hasn’t filled up its quota – rather than see the spaces go empty which incurs costs, due to empty seats on planes and in accomodation, they will often be advertised lower than what they were at first.

Of course, this can be risky waiting for a holiday to popup all of a sudden like this,and they do get snapped up quite quickly, but it is an excellent way to save some money.

You won’t miss out on too much either – the weather stays nice and warm right up to October usually, although you might catch a rainy day or two the later you leave it. Towards the end of the season, some bars and restaurants start to close but there will still be plenty open for you to visit. If you do happen to catch some bad weather then watersports and other activities might be out of the question too.

Some of the most popular areas in Kefalonia are Poros, Assos, Lassi, Skala and Lourdas and each area is well worth visiting no matter where you are staying, which is incredibly easy as the whole island is connected by a good road network. There are many, many place suitable for car hire in Kefalonia, so if you can drive then even better. Otherwise, consider local transport or even hiring a bicycle or similar.

Kefalonia has lovely deep blue waters that are crystal clear when up close, along with picturesque secluded villages and bare cliffs in other parts.

With so many places to stay, cheap Kefalonia accomodation is easy to find – competition helps to keep the prices down, although seasonal fluctuations can force the price up quite a lot, so book early and as soon as you find a suitable price you can afford.

I have had several holidays to Kefalonia and each one has been superb. Highly relaxing during the day, with several cocktails to cool down with in the evening. It can get hot during the day, but with the superb beaches around, its lovely to have a quick dip to cool off.

I highly recommend arranging your holiday early. Cheap kefalonia holidays are available as long as you do this, as the prices tend to go steeply upwards once a resort starts to fill up. Tour operators do this as a way of inticing people to book with them, so be one of the first to book and save yourself some money.
